Here lies buried the body of Mr. Isaac Snow, who departed this life, March the 31st, 1776, Aged 67 years.
Isaac Snow was treasurer of Woburn from 1740 to 1744, a selectman, 1756 and 1758; provided for the "French People" in Woburn, in 1756 and 1761; was a subscriber to the covenant of Woburn Church in 1756; did service on important committees, and is styled "Gentleman" in legal documents.

"Isaac Snow is a Sea Captain and is away from home much of the time. His wife, Polly (Paine) Snow, used to worry about him when he was away at sea. When a storm would blow, she used to say, "Blow high, blow low, right through the Whimsey House. Poor Isaac's dead I know." Poor Isaac never did die at sea, but lived to a ripe old age and died at home. As a result of Polly's little verse, the Isaac Snow home became known as the Whimsey House." related by Grace Limeburner.
