Notes
General:
"Although religious, he left the established church and joined the "Separatists", or "New Lights", which later became the "Baptists". In 1749 he signed a petition asking that those not belonging to the established church should not have to pay taxes for its support. In 1755 the citizens of Chatham decided that its five residents, including Nathaniel, that did not belong to the established church, should still pay taxes for the ministry. A few years later the practice was abolished and he appeared on the list of those not required to pay." (alex1136)Marriage Notes (Sarah Chase)
