Marriage Notes (Nathaniel Smith)
"Nathaniel, along with Ephraim Covel, Andrew Clarke, Nathaniel Doane and Samuel Burge, Jr. were founders of the second church of Harwich on November 12, 1747. That church became the First Congregational Church of Harwich and the original building stood close to where the present church was built. Nathaniel was "impowered to finish the upper inside and do the plastering that is to be done" for the house being built for the new pastor. Letters of administration for the estate of Nathaniel Smith were to John Smith on December 12, 1775. No will was filed. Settlement of the estate was by inventory and agreement and provided a widow's benefit. No children or grandchildren were named in documents, only creditors Deacon Edward Hall, Samuel Ellis, Samuel Kendrick, Isaac Knowles, Desire Bangs, Nathan Hall, James Baker, Reuben Eldridge, and Gershom Hall."
