Page 141: "Abrose Fish was indicted in 1677 for "by force carnally did know and ravish Lydia Fish, the daughter of Mr. Nathaniel Fish of Sandwich .... against her will, she being then in the peace of God and of the King." Lydia may have been Ambrose's sister or niece. Plymouth law required that there be at least two witnesses before a conviction. As it was only Lydia's word against his he was only whipped. In 1685, Ambrose Fish was convicted of trespass, abuse, and vile language toward Thomas Willett. But he was still appointed constable of Sandwich.
